Some of you might know that I participated in a 2-week intense perfumery summer school at @isipcaparis a few years ago. It was the most amazing experience in my perfume journey and I definitely want to go there again (I might join this July and only focus on working in the lab. Fingers crossed it works out!)! So how @isipcaparis and Anne Filipo's 'Synthetic Jungle' by @fredericmalle are related? Well, the perk of doing summer school in @isipcaparis is also that you get to smell perfumes that are not on the market yet! This is an insane experience for a #perfumejunkie as I am! We actually got to blind smell this scent without knowing anything about it: brand, the perfumer, bottle, design, idea behind it, etc. Totally nothing. So instead of a review that I usually do, I just want to share what I wrote in my notes when I totally blind smelled it. Here it is. Raw and without any bias😉: 'Noticeable scent. Definitely signature. I see a strong, confident man, who really takes care of himself. He does not need to say a lot to be noticed. Very classy, in a gorgeous, chic, but not overdressed outfit. It also takes me back to the 19th century. Barbershop with high-quality products. It opens citrusy, sharp, bright, green, slightly 'loud'. Then balances out into a clean, softer, comforting scent. A nice balance between raw & synthetic ingredients. Genealogy: Fougere royal, has Penthaligons ‘Sartorial’ vibes.’ I remember I really liked this scent from the first sniff (and I still like it a lot!). Even though I was not correct in some cases (e.g. it actually belongs to the Chypre family and not Fougere 🤣) and this scent evoked different thoughts, and emotions than the perfumer and creator intended, that is a beauty about the scent world. It evokes different memories, and fantasies to all of us! There is no right or wrong! What do you think? Do you share some of my 'raw' emotions/thoughts about this scent? Share below in the comments!
